Marilyn Windau
Marilyn Windau has loved art and creating since childhood. At eight years old, her father dropped her off in front of the lion statues at the Art Institute of Chicago so she could attend children’s art classes.
She later majored in art education at UW–Madison and minored in relief printmaking. Marilyn taught art at the elementary and middle school levels for 25 years before retiring.
She also served as manager of the Appleton Gallery of Arts, where she juried and installed exhibitions and frequently oversaw the gallery’s summer art fair. She currently works as a docent at the John Michael Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan.
Marilyn works across many mediums including abstract acrylic painting, woodcuts, monoprints, ceramics, weaving, mosaics, and bookmaking. She is also a free verse poet and has published eight books to date.
She lives in an 1891 home in Sheboygan Falls with her husband, a retired environmental engineer. Together they have three daughters and three grandchildren.
