A lifelong student of painting, I have practiced since childhood and studied with some well-known artists throughout my lifetime. Raised in the Midwest, I have traveled extensively and lived from coast to coast with career relocations. My love for the Midwest countryside and the mountains of the West are obvious in my landscape paintings.

Working mostly in oil paint, I paint outdoors on location whenever possible for reference studies and sometimes finished paintings, as I believe painting directly from nature is the best practice to sharpen a sense of natural values and color. These on-site studies often serve to influence a larger, more finished studio piece. I will sometimes sketch and paint the figure to keep my direct observation practice sharp.

In retirement from hospitality management, I now show my work in Door County and Colorado. I also continue to serve (6 years) as Executive Director for a national organization of Master painters, the Plein Air Painters of America.
