Scott Olbrantz
Scott is a Sheboygan, Wisconsin–based artist whose work explores the relationship between material, process, and intuition. While his primary medium is wood, he also works extensively with fused glass and mixed media, embracing the unique possibilities each material offers.
Though not formally trained in art, Scott has developed his craft through years of dedicated practice and classes with renowned woodturners Stuart Batty and Mike Mahoney. His background includes over 30 years in Quality Assurance across multiple industries, instilling a high level of precision and attention to detail—qualities that subtly inform his work.
In contrast to his structured professional career, Scott approaches his art with openness and flexibility. Each piece begins as a concept but evolves through continuous interaction with the material. Whether turning wood on a lathe or manipulating layers of glass through heat and form, he allows the process to guide the outcome, responding intuitively to what the piece reveals along the way.
His work highlights natural grain patterns, organic forms, and the transformation of solid materials into expressive objects. Scott’s pieces are currently displayed at Knot & Thread, the Sheboygan Visual Artists Gallery, and are available through multiple Etsy shops.
