Dan Merten

Dan Merten is a photographer based in Glenbeulah, Wisconsin, whose passion for photography began at a young age with his first Polaroid camera. In high school, he joined the camera club, where he learned film development and darkroom printing, developing an early appreciation for black-and-white photography.

After retiring from a 24-year career with the Department of Corrections and many years of service with the Glenbeulah Fire Department and First Responders, Dan has been able to devote even more time to his photography. After stepping away from the medium for several years, he rediscovered his passion in 2006 with the transition to digital photography. Since then, he has explored sports, portrait, and event photography before finding a deeper connection to candid street photography.

Today, Dan’s work focuses on capturing authentic, unposed moments through candid and street photography. He also enjoys experimenting with ICM (Intentional Camera Movement), along with macro and landscape photography, always exploring movement, light, and perspective through the camera lens.
